Admission requirements

Experience in Feed Milling:
Interest or background in agriculture/Animal Feed Production: While prior experience might not be mandatory, having an interest in or familiarity with the agricultural industry, animal nutrition, or feed production would be beneficial.
Commitment to the full duration of the program: Since this is a comprehensive, in-plant learning opportunity, participants need to commit to the full duration of the training program.
Basic skills in computer science: We will use MS Excel and a feed formulation tool.

Program

In the Introduction to the Practical Training Program in Feed Milling, participants will learn the following:

  1. Feed Milling Processes:
    - How raw materials are received, stored, and prepared for milling.
    - The different stages of feed production, including grinding, mixing, conditioning, pelleting, and cooling.Understanding the complete workflow within a feed mill, from raw materials to finished feed products.
  2. Machinery Operation:
    - How to operate the equipment used in the milling process, such as grinders, mixers, pellet mills, and coolers.
  3. Quality Control:
    - Techniques for ensuring the production of high-quality animal feed, including monitoring particle size, ingredient consistency, and ensuring nutrient content.
  4. Safety Protocols:
    - Knowledge of safety measures in a feed mill environment, including proper handling of machinery, chemicals, and raw materials.
  5. Best Practices for Efficiency:
    - Techniques to optimize production efficiency while maintaining quality and minimizing waste.
    - Understanding the balance between speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness in the feed milling industry.
  6. Hands-On Experience:
    - Practical, on-the-job training where participants will directly engage in the milling process under the supervision of experienced mill operators.
