  • Curriculum

    In the programme we will touch on the following aspects:

    • Importance of biosecurity
    • Why is proper recording required
    • Digestive tract, feed and feed requirements
    • Prevalent diseases, treatments and vaccinations
    • Housing: feeding and watering systems and requirements, lighting and heating
    • Aligning rearing phase with production phase
    • How to manage your chicks from day of arrival to peak production
    • Economic aspects regarding the production
    • Developments in the industry and consumer prevalence
    • We will do practicals in our layer unit and visit a commercial layer farm.

  • Admission requirements

    Experience in Poultry Farming:

    • Staff: Previous hands-on experience working in poultry farms, even if entry-level, is beneficial. Understanding the daily operations and challenges of a farm will enhance the learning experience.
    • Managers: Prior experience in farm management, including overseeing farm operations, managing staff, or handling farm logistics, is highly recommended.
    • Interest in Farm Improvement: A willingness to learn and implement new strategies for improving productivity is key. Participants should be committed to improving their farm’s efficiency, profitability, and overall performance.
